چکیده

We present CO(1--0) observations of the high-redshift quasar SDSS J160705+533558 ($z=3.653$) using Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA). detect CO emission associated with and at $\sim16.8\,\rm kpc$ projected distance from it, separated by $\sim800\,\rm km\,s^{-1}$ in velocity. The total molecular gas mass this system is $\sim5\times10^{10}\,\rm M_{\odot}$. By comparing our detections previous submillimetre (submm) source, an offset between different components revealed: peak submm companion detected VLA data. To explain findings, we propose a scenario similar to that for Antennae galaxies: might be merger which are merging galaxies, whose interaction resulted formation dusty, star-forming overlap region galaxies dominant wavelengths.

The SDSS-XMM Quasar Sample: First Results

We have searched in the XMM-Newton public archive for quasars in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) First Data Release (DR1), and found 55 lying in the field of a XMM-Newton observation with exposure times >20 ksec (as of August, 2004). The 35 quasars which yielded good X-ray spectra span redshifts from 0.5 to 2.5. The large collecting area of XMM-Newton allows us to investigate the dependence...

A Study of Quasar Radio Emission from the VLA FIRST Survey

Using the most recent (1998) version of the VLA FIRST survey radio catalog, we have searched for radio emission from 1704 quasars taken from the most recent (1993) version of the Hewitt and Burbidge quasar catalog. These quasars lie in the ∼5000 square degrees of sky already covered by the VLA FIRST survey. Our work has resulted in positive detection of radio emission from 389 quasars of which ...

Discovery of Radio Emission from the Quasar Sdss J1536+0441, a Candidate Binary Black-hole System

The radio-quiet quasar SDSS J1536+0441 shows two broad-line emission systems that Boroson & Lauer interpret as a candidate binary black-hole system with a separation of 0.1 pc (0.02 mas). From new VLA imaging at 8.5 GHz, two faint sources, separated by 0.97 (5.1 kpc), have been discovered within the quasar’s optical localization region. Each radio source is unresolved, with a diameter of less t...

The accretion disc in the quasar SDSS J0924+0219

We present single-epoch multi-wavelength optical-NIR observations of the “anomalous” lensed quasar SDSS J0924+0219, made using the Magellan 6.5-metre Baade telescope at Las Campanas Observatory, Chile. The data clearly resolve the anomalous bright image pair in the lensed system, and exhibit a strong decrease in the anomalous flux ratio with decreasing wavelength. This is interpreted as a resul...

Counts of Low-redshift SDSS Quasar Candidates

We analyze the counts of low-redshift quasar candidates selected using nine-epoch SDSS imaging data. The co-added catalogs are more than 1 mag deeper than single-epoch SDSS data, and allow the selection of low-redshift quasar candidates using UV-excess and also variability techniques. The counts of selected candidates are robustly determined down to g=21.5. This is about 2 magnitudes deeper tha...
